I’ve always been interested in money. And while on maternity leave with my daughter I dove head first into the personal finance space and created this blog. I love helping friends and family with their money. However, it was important for me to have a credential and formal training before helping others.
So I went back to school and am currently a Qualified Associate Financial Planner certification candidate.
What Does That Mean?
It means that I have a code of ethics to adhere to and all of my advice is with your best interest as the top priority. I’m not just sharing my experiences or opinions. I am providing advice based in fact and research.
Financial planning is a holistic approach that looks at financial management, insurance and risk management, estate planning, tax planning, retirement planning, and investment planning. It looks at the whole picture and considers what you value not just numbers on paper.
I am not licensed to sell securities. And while I will not make specific stock recommendations, I can help guide you to ensure your investment portfolio is set up to help you achieve your goals.
How Is Working With Me Different?
In my previous career I was a high school teacher. And there is a lot of teaching that goes on when I’m working to help others feel confident with their finances.
My approach is a hybrid approach between traditional financial planning, education, and money coaching.
I’m an advice only financial planner which means I will not manage your investments for you or sell you securities or insurance. The cost to work with me is the upfront planning cost which includes 1 year together. During that year you will have direct access to me and I will help you implement the recommendations of your financial plan.
After the first year, you can decide to continue to work with me for half of the initial cost a year for as long as you feel comfortable.
I don’t want to manage your money for you, I want to help empower you with your finances so that you feel comfortable taking control and achieving your goals.
